Just thinking....
Perhaps it's possible to use some wire benders,
and material to create a contraption that sits on the
grand plate, wires extending down each plate
strut at the ends of each section, that suspends a
strip of muffler felt, under tension, a couple mm
below the strike point of the strings.
The whole thing would just sit on the plate and
could slide a cm forward and back to engage/disengage
it. Off to the patent office. Oh my..wheres the
coffee.
You would have a mighty quiet grand.
