I think you might have misunderstood me. I don't tell my customer I charge 
$100, or whatever, per hour. I do tell customer a job costs x number of 
dollars. They don't know how long it takes me to do that. And as you said, 
there are a lot of other factors involved. (Once in a while I will tell a 
customer I charge $80 per hour, especially when I don't want to work on a 
piano, because it is a basket case that doesn't deserve to be worked on. That 
usually shuts the customer up). 

My point was that too many technicians are not charging enough for their 
work. As I pointed out, they will charge $80 for a tuning, which takes them 
an hour and half, but then charge $80 per hour for repairs, etc. If they were 
truly charging $80 pr hour, then the tuning fee should be $120.00.
