PBS Airs "The Legendary Liberace" Hosted by Jo Ann Castle

BRANSON, Mo.--(ENTERTAINMENT WIRE)--March 7, 2002--Jo Ann Castle will host
"The Legendary Liberace", airing on PBS all this month as part of its March
2002 pledge drive. Castle, the popular pianist and entertainer best
remembered from "The Lawrence Welk Show", hosts this introspective look at
one of America's most admired entertainers. As Castle, who shares some of her
own anecdotes of Liberace, told TV Guide, "His showmanship, talent, personal
warmth and sensibility were admired by fans and colleagues alike."

Known for both his piano artistry and his spectacular extravaganzas, Liberace
was variously named "Instrumentalist of the Year," "Best Dressed Entertainer"
and "Entertainer of the Year." He was awarded six gold albums and earned two
Emmy Awards for his 1950s TV series, which rivaled "I Love Lucy" and "The
Honeymooners" in popularity. With his glitzy costumes, candelabra, sparkling
jewelry and incomparable performance style, Liberace became one of the
world's greatest entertainers.

"The Legendary Liberace" illustrates the pianist's versatile keyboard
virtuosity -- which ranges from serious classical music to pop and
boogie-woogie -- by showing excerpts from that famous 1950s TV series. Castle
hosts the show from the Liberace Museum in Las Vegas, which still houses the
many pianos, automobiles, costumes, jewelry and other items Liberace
collected. And, through the magic of technology, Castle and Liberace play a
"duet" together, reminiscent of the Nat King Cole & Natalie Cole timepiece.

About Jo Ann Castle:

Jo Ann Castle doesn't tickle the Ivories, she hammers them -- as if she is
building the piano instead of playing it. This recent observation by TV Guide
helps describe the timeless appeal of the vivacious blond who has been
entertaining American audiences since her debut on "The Lawrence Welk Show"
on ABC. Website: www.joanncastle.com
