Most pianos of Beethoven's time had 6 to 6 1/2 octaves. I believe that, due to the constant urging of the musicians, of the time, more note were added. As Broadwood was one of the "innovators" of the time, it is possible that Beethoven's piano had 7 octaves. I feel confident that that would have been the max. Because it's been quite a while since I read "By Appointment", (the Broadwood Story"), I don't recall if it said what the Beethoven piano was and what it's compass was.
