Bechstein Date

Sorry for my terminology John. I guess Del covered it though. Most boats have smooth curves to the hull, but some have a hard corner - often just below the water line - and most often on power boats. That hard corner is a chine. The frames along the chine will be two pieces that are joined, rather than one continuous rib/frame - just like in a piano. I thought it to be a fair application of the term.

What is a chine? I looked in Merle Mason's book of Piano Parts and Their
Functions, and can't see it mentioned. Also what is a fishtail case?
Thank you.
