upr. brass flange repair & Annealing brass

Hi John,

 I would love to see that handout about annealing brass, it was a question I was going to post to the list one of these days. A person in my Chapter claimed years ago to have done that using an outdoor gas grill, I GUESS that's possible but from what I have read you need to get it up to about 650 degrees, don't know if you can do that with a gas grill, maybe in the direct flame?

 I'm working on a early Vose & Sons now with a brass rail and 80 of the 88 screw plates are broken but the rail SEEMS ok but I'm debating on leaving it as is, trying to anneal the brass or eliminate it entirely ala Spurlock.
