self-tuning piano?

Terry,

When you start guessing at someone's motives, you can reach the wrong
conclusions pretty easily. You may be right, but I doubt it.

There may still be some piano technicians who refuse to sell Dampp-Chaser
systems, concerned that if the systems work too well they'll experience a
decline in their work load. I haven't noticed any decline. Of course I am
concerned about making a decent living at this job, but I also want to help my
customers to get the most satisfaction from their pianos.

In regard to self-tuning pianos I look at it this way. How many new pianos do I
service in a year's time? Very few. If the self-tuning piano reaches
production, how many buyers of new pianos will buy one with this feature for an
extra grand or so? Very few. I can't see that this will have much impact on
the piano service business for decades to come, if ever. My two cents on a
snowy morning.
