I haven't experimented with high frequencies (beyond normal hearing 
range)...,  but close...

I occasionally have the pleasure ;-{ of touching up notes in a 4-6 rank 
pipe organ mixture (Scharf/Fourniture/Plein jeu) [which normally have some 
doubled pitches].  Tuning the doubled pitches which would be at the 1' 
pitch (pipe length about 1/2") I use resultants. I'll detune one really 
flat and then as I bring it up to pitch I hear the resultant going down.  I 
don't even listen for the fundamental until the resultant sounds more like 
a beat.
