This is a multi-part message in MIME format. ---------------------- multipart/alternative attachment Diane, John I like cutting the beckets first with the strings under tension. I = follow the tuning pin rows across the piano from bass to treble and back = again, the back row first, then the center row, etc. When done, all the = strings are loose and tuning pins are backed out. I'm going to try the = Dremmel on the wire to remove the coils, cutting on the speaking side of = the string to see how it works. It seem to me that controlling the coil = end of the string is necessary, to prevent undo scratching and = subsequent sanding of the plate during the refinishing process. Cutting the = becket lets the tension down real easy. >=20 >You'll need a dust mask, I don't think it's a good idea to be=20 >breathing in=20 >the steel dust.=20 Good point! >=20 >Regards,=20 >Jon Page, piano technician=20 >Harwich Port, Cape Cod, Mass.=20 >mailto:jonpage@mediaone.net=20 >http://www.stanwoodpiano.com=20 >~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~=20 -------------------------------------------------------------------------= ----- Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com ---------------------- multipart/alternative attachment An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
