This is a multi-part message in MIME format. ---------------------- multipart/alternative attachment Just an update on the posting I made to the list about a Steinway = 4510 console with a definite ring to it.=20 I want to thank all the people who responded to it, it made me = think, at least, which is always welcome. Kent Webb sent out a set of four section dampers which I installed = as high up on the backing as I could without having any possibility of = being hit in the future by the hammers, should wear occur. The problem = was solved!=20 The dampers were a little deeper, and I had to readjust the spoons, = but other than that it was pretty easy. Hate having to do that in the = customers home on a piano that they've only had for a few weeks, though. The dampers came with a little pad of felt on the back for gluing = the dowels to; With the new dampers lifting late, I surely didn't want = to make it even worse by adding another 1/8th inch to it, but since the = pad is toward one end of the damper, I finally figured out that you can = just glue it to the other side. DUH! I should have thought of that right = away, instead of pondering it for about five minutes. Yes, those little pieces of felt DO absorb the entire energy from = the plate and soundboard! Kevin E.
