rescaling

I agree Newton. That was exactly the point of my last post on this topic.
The New York Stock Exchange and capitalistic greed were not invented
yesterday. They were alive and well at the turn of the Century (you know -
the one before last). I think many folks tend to romanticize the "good old
days" far too much. I believe there is some truth in "they don't make them
like they used to", but there are many things that are far better today. I
would like very much to visit life in 1880 - it would really be a thrill -
many unspoiled wonders to see and experience. But no way would I want to
live back then - no women piano techs - get diarrhea and die - get the flue
and die - get pregnant and die - have half your children die before
adulthood - maybe one of 'em would get lynched (I realize we still do this
in Florida - no, that's right, now'days we douse tourists with gasoline &
burn 'em - but it is at least much less common).

Oops! Sorry, I see this developed into a rant.
