"State of the Art" means different but does it needfully mean 'better'? For instance: You can lock up the brakes on an E type and put it into a controlled skid...can't do that with a car having an ABS system cause the computer won't let you do it. Or...have you ever heard of a small child being decapitated by the faulty deployment of an air bag in an E type? Or.....can you drive a "state of the art" auto with the top down feeling the wind blowing through your hair, well not my hair, and feel the power and the throaty roar of the engine as you easily cruise along? An auto gets you from place to place that is all it does...granted some do it differently than others but it is just a means of transportation.............likewise a piano allows music to be played and that is all it does....some do it differently than others but it is just a means of expressing written music or mental melodies. How can an instrument be described as 'better' or 'worse' when it can play sounds well enough to bring tears to the eyes and a lump in your throat........oh some pianos do it differently than others but if the result is the same....... who gives a big rats about whether it is "state of the art'??? :-) Just some thoughts.
