And may he be in heaven a half hour befor the devil knows he's gone!

A beautiful testimony. There are many out there, who, for what ever =
reason, were not joiners, but did excellant work and were a credit to =
our profession. Thanks for sharing.

Few of you if any knew George Silver. He was by no means a world class =
technician...rather he was a self taught hard working dedicated piano =
lover. He was a proffesional trumpetist for the Bergen Philharmonic =
Orchestra throughout his adult life, but coming from a family of piano =
techs in the English/Scottish tradition he learned the ropes from his =
father early on and spent most of the rest of his time living, working, =
and learning what he could here in Bergen. He was honored last year by =
Vossa Jazz, a jazz festival of note here in Norway, for 25 years of =
service, and just a couple weeks ago he completed his 26th, and what was =
to be his last festival.=20

I met George 20 years ago when I first moved here to Bergen. He didnt =
like me then...grin.. chumpy American boy who shows up and shows up =
thinking he knows sump'en about pianos... but as time went by I =
convinced him I was a serious minded person... and these past 2 years we =
have been sharing a workshop with another tech here in Bergen. George =
was never associated with any organization really... He did some time at =
Grotrian learning from a voicing master there... and joined Euro piano =
without really becoming involved.. he was very much a loner.. very =
proud.=20

I just didnt think a fellow who did so much for so many over so many =
years should pass without comment. He passed on 68 years old, in his =
sleep. May there be a God, and may he look after Georges soul.=20
