Stephen, This is a great paper. I'm not familiar with the article in question, though I know Koster's sometimes spotty analysis of the Boston MFA collection. Wasn't Zumpe a pupil of Silbermann's, later employed by Shudi and one of twelve Saxon pf makers who emigrated to England? This would seem to contradict Koster's thesis regarding the direct development of the English form from the Italian. Thanks, Clark
