surcharge/precursor of INFLATION

Wim, 
I seem to remember the defination of inflation as being "too many dollars 
chasing too few goods". If the fed "loosens" the money supply it will only 
put inflationary pressure on the remaining goods. The trick so far has been 
to progressively tighten the money supply through higher interest rates. Oh 
God I feel the need for my flamesuit...
