Unfortunately you probably are having a reaction between the shoe polish and
the tung oil. If it doesn't dry soon you will have to do again. Tung oil is
a
proper finish for ebony especially considering the wear and tear it will be
subjected to. Aniline dye stain; although nasty stuff; is relatively neutral
under oil finishes. Most times the shoe polish method works fine but it
sounds like you are going to have to take another route this time.
