Hi Tom, You will not find that practice in the Yamaha factory. I would really question this practice. Yamaha still makes it's own Onion skin type punchings, much better quality than the North American product. Thin but strong. I think they are 0.06mm, but don't quote me on that dimension. I asked Mark Wisner if Yamaha USA carried them in stock, the answer was affirmative. Canadian's can get them thro' Yamaha Canada. Walloping the felt punching with a hammer on a hard surface, is preferable to removing material.
