Empty Key lead holes

I have left many, many empty holes in keys.  Many more are only
partially filled with lead.  I have also found many, many holes in my
memory but I know I never plugged any but two or three and found it
such a chore that I abandoned doing so and I have never, never once,
had any problem because of an empty hold.  Isn't that an oxymoron?  An
empty hole?
