pitch raise time

Terry when you are doing a pitch raise you don't "set" the pin or string. 
Also, as Pat said, most chipping of new strings is done mitout mutes :-)  In 
the Q&A section of this months Journal you will find a brief description of 
doing ear training/practice tuning of 'open' unisons or bass.
