Magic loop splice

Well Ollie, I've done it. I found a bass string in a Howard SpinSole ( or
is that a Conet? ) with a break in the loop! Right at the extreme end of
the loop, no rust, no obvious damage, just a break. That's a first for me.
I measured the length from the winding end, cut off the loop, made a
splice, guestimated the stretch and tighten allowance for both the splice
and a loop, and made the new loop. After I pulled the thing up to pitch a
few times, massaging the knot with pliers, tightening and straightening the
loop, I ended up about a half millimeter longer than dead on. Took about
ten minutes including bleeding. I was nearly as proud as I was surprised.
Thought I'd post it so you could be too. 8^)

Yes it's true, I am easily amused.
