Would you mind elaborating on this one a little?

...replace the perimeter lags with 3/8"NC x 4" socket head screws, with a
lock nut under the plate, and an acorn nut above...

I know what a lock nut and an acorn nut are.  But I'm not sure what a 3/8"NC
x 4" socket head screw is???

Perhaps if I can figure out what this is, I'll know better what you are
doing.

Is it a sort of home brew of the system Baldwin uses?

Not trying to be obnoxious, just very interested!
