If you pull off the spring and let the rail fall down against the action
studs, you can slip the plastic ferrule out of the cradle sideways.
Then you can remove the rail. Maybe you have a different setup, but
this is what I remember. Some of the cable ends have the plastic
ferrule, and some had a metal one. It's been a while, but it is
possible to do. Hope this helps.
