Hi Donald,
You did not need to cut off the plastic rivets, on the SAT. All you have to
do is, push the centre inside, and the rivet prise off with a small screw
driver.
Before the plug socket is replaced, collect the inserts, and on completion,
push in the rivets and insert the centres.
I have had to do it to replace a socket, and also when I replaced the
battery pack.
