My introduction to piano work was prompted by my small town piano teacher
with the horrible little pso that played like a truck, sounded like a
transistor radio in the end of a can, and a week after the poor tuner left,
had individual notes producing minor thirds. Mrs. Wright and I spent a
number of Saturday mornings, trying to fix the best little five-foot grand
in town.

Anyway, even though I play at guitar, trombone, and trumpet, I don't think
that they offer me any help at all in servicing a piano. Playing the piano
itself is my most important source of feedback as to whether or not I have
been successful.

The criteria that I use is very simple...When I have completed my work, be
it a simple tuning, or major rebuilding, does the piano respond to playing?
Does it facilitate my ability to play music? After a number of years of
being scared to death of being able to please any good pianist, trying to
figure out just WHAT DO THEY WANT?, I discoverd that all they want is a
piano that responds to them...just exactly what I want.

So...no magic, no heroics, no "gosh, ain't I wonderful" . Just good solid
action regulation, even tone, and a tuning you would like to play
on......Simple!!!

Owen!
