This to confirm the "pounding" and not the "quality" of sound. I had a church with a Kimball "LaPetite"(4'9") grand which needed a 6' or larger but when the location for the piano was designed they didn't leave any more room. Within the first 6 months I replaced several strings broken because the pianist was trying to hear the piano over the choir. I recommended the mike and monitor for the pianist and now very rarely is there a broken string.
