An Aural Adventure solved?

An aural tuner generally goes for an off shoot of one third above the
amount that the pitch is flat. If it's 5 beats per second flat to the fork
(20 cents) then you should tune it just less than two beats sharp. ( eight
cents would be two beats per, and you would want a little less than seven.)
You probably would do best to follow the same procedure with a SAT. In
the treble, anyway, if you are tuning unisons last. If you're tuning
unisons as you go, use the pitch raise calculator.
I think that you'll find that the method you have found will work on
some pianos and not on others, but if you find it to work consistently, let
us all know. On most pitch raises, we're just trying to get it close enough
that it will be really stable on the second pass, You cannot do a fine
tuning and a pitch raise at the same time. Period. Better people than me
told me that when I was just starting out, and I've found it to be true.
