Reason no.1: overheated or airborn plastic and ivory is smelly stuff
Reason no.2: big grit abrasives usually are less precise than edge tools
Reason no.3: grinding ivory to dust seems like a terrible waste, no
matter what its condition.

Other options to surface keys are Wagner, Sears, etc. rotary planers for
drill presses, or table saws - either, I think, which would be easier to
clean up after. Pressed for space? The Microlux 3 3/8" saw is a champ.
