I had a fairly recent job of having to tune at A441 for a rehersal session. This was for Clint Black's (Country artist) tour last fall. To my knowledge it was not an international tour but was sort of a compact schedule of only about 10 or 12 major US cities. I asked about the reason for the pitch of A441 and was told that it was to aid the horn section in some fashion and that the tour would also include a couple of shows using chamber style orchestras who had requested the pitch to be A441. The Keyboard player for the band is a good friend of mine and told me that they had quite a bit of difficulty in finding a tech (in some cities) who could tune the piano to EXACTLY A441 ( I told them that they should have taken me on the tour before they left town....oh well.....maybe next time) The request of the various pitches in Norway may be just another area of the globe to get the itch to try something other than the same A440 and equal temperament which has been the norm for a while. Perhaps this is another vane of the temperament revival, eh? Regards, Dale
