Ken,

The scarf will be of only partial value and -- by itself -- quite possibly
might make the problem worse.  The problem, of course, will be heat.  The
best advice is to have the windows treated in some way to reduce --
eliminate, if possible -- the UV light.  Once that is done, the piano cover
will be helpful.
