Sorry, I shouldn't have been so glib.  A client of mine had a horror
story with her Pleyel grand where it ended up for six years in the hands
of someone who got in over his head and couldn't find a way out. 
Predictably, it is now an abominable PSO.  I wouldn't wish that on
anyone and I agree with most of the advice already given.  All you can
do is be as honest and helpful as possible.  Perhaps the client will
admit to accepting an offer that was too good to be true, and the
refinisher to biting off more than he could chew.
