Dear Jim, I think is was picked because it was high enough to all new instruments, except pianos, would have to be purchased. In a few more years it will star all over again. Already we see 442, 443, and sometimes 444. Soon it will be 445 and everyone will have to buy new instruments. Collusion of wind and brass instrument makers.
