Hi Fred,
Another way which I think would be more permanent, if there is
seperation or contamination, is.
Drill the hole to 1/2", seal with CA glue, and insert a plug of pinblock
material, then drill for a #2 pin.
This repair covers all bets, you are sealing the contaminate out.
You are reinforcing, if there was seperation, not splitting more.
And you have new pinblock material for the pin.
Plugs are available from Webb Phillips.
