Hertz and history

Hi Keith,

Yes, it was a *created* word to honor--Hertz who was very much influenced
by Helmholtz. It is used interchangeably with cycles per second. I believe
that part of the reason for that is that cps is *not* quite what really
happens. More like a wave front traveling back and forth. Just as sine wave
is really Sinusoidal wave(sp??). As to the particular date it was in the
early 70's or late 60's, I believe. I really don't remember.
