Greetings, 
   If the pinblock is not replaced, and it is attached to the case, then there
is no need to measure. However, the rimbolts are often placed in oversized
holes, and their cumulative positioning of the plate may or may not be
consistant.  Hence, without the indexing afforded by the pinblock, the need
for careful plate measurements before removal.  
    I use a line scored on a wedge to mark the position of the plate at the
front stretcher and case sides( four measurements). It is very sensitive to
mis alignment, the difference of a thickness of writing paper will show up on
the wedge marks.
