This may seem far-fetched -- but then, Avery has probably already thought of the usual possibilities. After a couple of experiences, whenever I see very localized rusting, I try to find out if there are cats. Mice can do the same kind of thing, but probably not in a well-maintained grand piano. I've seen a few pianos ruined by cats, and the owner didn't even realize it. If I get to talk to God in person, I'm going to ask him what he put in cats that makes grand pianos so attractive to them.
