Friday the Thirteenth strikes again... and some thoughts about it

1.
I'm not stupistitious, so my Friday evening will just have to be chalked up
to stupididity. I got to my moonlight tuning appointment ready, I thought,
to do a S&S B and S&S L. As I started to set up for the first one, I got
that sinking feeling in my stomach when I realized I had left a very
important piece of equipment in a previous piano. Being about 40 miles away,
I wasn't about to just run back and fetch it.

NO, it wasn't my tuning fork (though I _have_pulled that trick), it was my
"thumper".

I settle strings by subjecting them to the hardest blow the piano can
deliver, always have, always will. Ten years ago, after carpal tunnel
surgery on both wrists, I got to thinking maybe my body was trying to tell
me something. Duh...

Thumpers have been discussed here before, but it took two tunings to remind
me just why _I_ use one. Advil is my friend...

2.
The "L" is located in a verrrry good echo chamber of a classroom. Normally,
for me, a less than pleasant experience. This time was a piece-o-cake. Why?
I was wearing my new earplugs. I highly recommend the "Musicians Earplugs".
The flat 15dB attenuation screens out all those nasties.

As the founder and sole surviving member of NAPiTePraSTuTe - National
Association of PIano TEchnicians PRActicing Safe TUning TEchniques,
sometimes referred to as
BKTYBB - Be Kind To Your Body Bunch, I would encourage going to classes
concerning aches and pains and hearing such as will be offered at this
year's convention.

If I hadn't just gotten one, I'd certainly be interested in the audiograms
and fittings that are being offered.

No, I'm not on any convention committee.

If I had multiple personality disorder, my resume would make more sense.
