Hi Larry,
A couple of pointers to greatly improve Acrosonic dampers.
The first 5 tri-cord notes in the tenor section, carefully space the
strings on both sides of the pressure bar, and install Yamaha quality
tri-damper felt. I like to take a razor knife and cut into the V and spread
the two wedges a little, apply some glue to the back of the felt, and slide
down the strings whilst depressing the damper pedal.
Release pedal, now play the note to ensure perfect fit. This will improve
damping and greatly reduce the after damping whine. Next braid tape the
bass strings and lower tenor notes. Another tip on this model, pay carefull
attention to hammer shaping, string mating, and bridge security at the
bass/tenor break , it will result in a much cleaner tuning.
Hope this helps
Roger
