'Matt Finish' on New York Steinway

Wet sanded with 400 wet-or-dry then rubbed with 4/0 steel wool.

I finer patina for a satin finish would be produced by useing a finer
grit sand paper and Scotch Brite.

I saw one recently, the surface looked like a phonograph record
with all the sanding lines in it.
