Anne, I failed to mention that I use my hemostat for another reason which keeps it in my tool case at all times. When I raise pitch, I strip mute the entire piano. Because, in uprights, the space is limited by the highest treble dampers, I use a strip of hammer butt felt as my treble strip mute.
