RE: Asian grand damper spoon regulation

What do y'all use to regulate them suckers?? Do ya find a rooler to
measure each one with and bend accordioningly?? What do ya measure with
when there's a piannerDisc in there??

I gots the answer, hey.

Most of us have scape wood laying around (Cable spinets, Thomas pianos
wannabees, piano has beens, piano crates, wood buring stoves made from real
wood, etc.) and can operate a hand saw (forward, back, forward, back, etc.,
a binary saw). I made this device years ago and have found it to be the
cats meow. It's fast, fun, friendly, fat free, tax free, no phosphates, no
nitrites, nitrates, salt or oils, no saleman will call, not sold anywhere,
not available in stores, it's biodegradable, recycled, organic, and totally
radical dude!!

It measures about 12 inches long, about 2" square, and on one end it has a
lip, shelf, ledge, flat protrusion, through which passes a capstan. The
ledge is long enough and high enough to clear the Una Corda lever (soft
pedal action pusher for us common folk), and the capstan is situated so
that it can be adjusted to accomodate the spoons at various levels. I have
found I adjust the capstan very little from piano to piano. Before
removing the action, I check the damper lift on various notes and find one
that I like for measurement. I then remove the action, and adjust my
capstan on this tool to just touch the spoon of that note without actually
lifting it. I then adjust all the other spoons to match. I adjust the
entire set in about five minutes. This can be done on a paneled keybed as
well, just hold the tool off to the side.

I'll send a BITMAP to those who'd like, the entire list if you wish
......... but some of us don't have BITMAP viewing capabilities.
