There are ways to take a Wurlitzer action out and there are ways ....

How did you go about removing the action?

The important thing is after you loosen the action brackets, to secure the
stickers toward the back of the piano with a tool made for this purpose from
Schaff or a small dowel.  Schaff's is easier, as sometimes you have to
insert the rod and then finish assembling it.  Secure the rod with rubber
bands or whatever and out it comes.  Just reverse to replace.  Should come
out & go back without needing regulation due to the removal.   Better luck
next time.
