You're right, Peter, the more dense the felt is, the more it weighs.
Also, different wood moldings--birch, mahogany, whatever--have dif-
ferent weights, too. Therefore, even though a given set of hammers may
be the same SIZE as the originals, beacuse of a different density
of felt, or a different type of wood molding, or BOTH, the weight
might be completely different. The only way to tell for sure is to
weigh the originals and the replacements and match them up that
way. You question shows that you're thinking along the right lines.
