factory warranty?

Dear list,
About a year a go I was called by a client to tune their new piano ( 1
year old) for the first time. The piano was a "Belarus" a beautiful name
if you pronounced it right. It was very much below pitch ( I tuned it
twice over 2 weeks) and it had a middle mute pedal with the felt strip rail
cacked on one end and it had come loose completely because of this. I made
a call to the dealer who sold it to find out how to go about repairing this
under the factory warranty, since this was obviously a defect in materials
problem. I was told that this brand, "the Belarus" came with 'no' factory
warranty. I said. "what" I couldn't believe it. I had never in 35 tuning
years ever heard of a brand new piano coming without any kind of factory
warranty. As it turned out the client chose not to have me repair it,
since it would cost them money, and although I have called to remind them,
I have not been called back to retune.
Has anyone else heard of any new instruments that come with no factory
warranty?

thanks,
James Grebe from St. Louis
