Jeff, The garment steamer works well. I knew an old technician in So.Cal. who used to dampen cotten kitchen toweling, drape it directly on the hammers and then iron it with a flat iron. The first time I saw it, I almost had a stroke...then, I listened to the piano. The key with anything is moderation.
