I've had an insta-coiler many years. I found that to avoid breaking wires, it is best to release the tension slightly as you start the first turn. If you pull it too far it will break the string. Hope this helps. Biggest problem with these machines is that you turn the pin too many times and slightly loosens the pin. Other than that, a very fine instrument....
