The angle of the tuning pin hole is determined by having the string leave the tuning pin, with three coils, at 90 degrees when the string touches the string rest with the bottom coil at 1/8" from the plate. The reason from this is to minimize flagpoling and so the bottom coil will neither climb up or down the tuning pin. Simple. Newton nhunt@rci.rutgers.edu
