The wall outlet charges the battery and the battery runs a DC to AC converter which provides power for my computers. The warranty that comes with it will replace up to $5000 worth of computers if they are damaged while plugged into this thing. I've got my old surge suppressor plugged into it for extra power outlets. You can also get them with telephone line protection. Like the airline motto "It's the ONLY way to fly!" Don't take chance on surge supressors, Man, it's not worth it. I know how aggravating it is to do what you're doing. I had a hard drive crash two years ago. I could tell it was going and put off doing anything because "I didn't have time"! I had about 400 meg of data and programs and my most recent back-up was two months previous. Boy, I kicked myself for a month afterwards. Good luck! Warren -- Warren D. Fisher fish@communique.net Registered Piano Technician Piano Technicians Guild New Orleans Chapter 701
