All, This whole thread on soundboards reminds me to suggest the reading of Frank Hubbard's "Three Centuries of Harpsichord Making". While the information is not necessarily immediately apparent, he goes into some detail about the range of materials used by various makers in different geographic areas. Of particular interest is the post-mortem inventory from one maker's estate. Also, someone mentioned Alfred Dolge. There is much to be mined in those tomes, if one has the time to follow through at the patent office... Was anyone on the list in or around Kimball/Bosendorfer as the "Viennese" edition pianos were being developed? They did some very interesting experiments with laminated boards. Best to all. Horace
