I just received a call from a customer who owns a new vertical piano of Korean origin, though for now, I'll leave the manufacturers name out of the post. She's experiencing intermitent buzzing. When I was there a month or so ago, I found a small area around the perimeter of the soundboard, which was not securely glued to the rim, and repaired it... I thought. Needless to say, the buzz is back. I've experienced problems of this sort, with these pianos, quite frequently over the last few years, and have only been partially succesful in affecting permanent cures. In every case, when pressure is applied to the board near the area of the buzz, and the board is flexed, a definite "scrunching" or "creaking" noise can be heard, and occasionally, though not always, a starved glue joint is found. Is any one out there familiar with problems of this sort? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Richard Wagner RPT
