Mildewed Piano

Many thanks to all who responded to my request for information on removing
mildew from pianos. I inspected the piano this morning. What they
considered as mildew was a spotted discoloration on the hammer cores and
the back ends of the keys. Also, they pointed out that repetition was not
very good and figured that the mildew was responsible for that. Their real
problem was broken hammer spring cords. This is a Yamaha studio and the
hammers attach to the flange with a metal clip. Should be pretty easy to
replace the strings. I saw no mildew, but does anyone know what the spots
are on the hammer cores and keys? I've seen it a lot on old pianos. This
one is about 10 years old.
